The Internet is not unlike any of the other popular media we have today. Such as newspapers,
magazines and television. Actually, websites are very similar to the magazine
in a lot of ways. They both have pages and the layout is very close to
the same. Also, people view the two in the same manner. When we go online
and start "surfing the net" its like thumbing through a Newsweek
or a Time magazine. Scanning over the pages till something catches our
eye.
Which brings us to the philosophy of web design. Simplicity is best. Clean, simple and straight forward. This does
not mean black text on white background. Far from it. But too busy can be
distracting. Taking away from the focus of the webpage. And in turn, interest
is lost and the customer moves on.
